Elbow Room, launched in 2012, is a series of art journals and live events celebrating art in all guises. Each individually curated volume of Elbow Room includes written and visual arts. Produced in limited edition, hand bound pamphlets Elbow Room is sold online, in specialist bookshops and at artists’ book fairs across the country. Elbow Room is housed in multiple special collections including The Poetry Library at London’s Southbank Centre. Our live events bring art off the page as writers and musicians come together for intimate and exciting evenings.
Since its founding there have been 18 volumes of Elbow Room, 3 special editions and two Elbow Room Prize anthologies. Elbow Room came to a close at the end of 2018.
Elbow Room has come to an End…
Elbow Room has officially ended. With the start of 2019 I have set an automatic ‘this is no longer our email’ response from the submissions inbox, and pinned a tweet directing people to As Yet Untitled. That is it. Six years of adventuring and art and poetry and literature and more have come to a close. As they did a door opened somewhere and I am heading off towards it with As Yet Untitled in tow. I can’t wait to find out what lies on the other side, to continue this journey of books and art and see where it takes me.
Thank you for making Elbow Room what is was, for coming along for the ride and supporting us as we grew. I hope you will stick around for the next bit…
Elbow Room Live
Our live events bring Elbow Room off the page and onto the stage at The Harrison in London. We set out to create a space for every type of art and it was with this in mind that we started our live events. Every Elbow Room Live brings poetry, short stories, live music and film to welcoming and intimate audiences.
The Elbow Room Prize
The Elbow Room Prize was held in 2015 and 2016. With over 600 entrants over the two years, the Elbow Room Prize celebrated the best of Poetry, Prose and Visual Arts. Both years the prize culminated in a fantastic night of art and poetry held in some of Londons best independent galleries.
